About
I am a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Previously, I received my PhD degree in Computer Science and Engineering from HKUST under the supervision of Prof. Qian Zhang and Prof. Jin Zhang. Before that, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree from Southern University of Science and Technology.

I will join the Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Baptist University as an Assistant Professor in mid-December 2026. I am looking for prospective PhD students (Fall 2027 intake) and research assistants. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following: (i) processing human sensing data and developing AI models, (ii) hardware prototyping, and (iii) conducting empirical studies.
Research
My research lies at the intersection of human–computer interaction (HCI), mobile and ubiquitous computing, and sensing. I explore how to seamlessly integrate sensing of human behavior and physiology into everyday life, with an emphasis on using off-the-shelf sensors and devices and developing robust AI models. My interests include:
- Wearable interfaces: Creating intuitive and delightful interactions between people and wearable devices.
- Everyday healthcare: Developing technologies that reduce the cost and effort of healthcare, making care accessible at home and in daily life.
- Deployment and empirical studies: Deploying technologies in real-world settings and getting insights by evaluating their usability, effectiveness, and users’ experiences.
